Art Exhibition ’12 poster 2June 7, 8, 9 – The Annual Student and Staff Exhibition at Central Technical School
I am sending news of the annual student and staff exhibition at Central Technical School, which I joined last September for second year adult studies and may have some items chosen for the show (who knows – there are just so many of us!) but this will still be a fun event. I’m donating three bowls I created in Ceramics for the Hungry Bowls portion, (sorry buyer — I’m such a novice at this!) a fundraiser where proceeds will go to feeding our very own students at Central Tech, through “Gracie’s Fund” where she buys and gives gift cards that kids use to buy groceries to help feed their families.
Please note that The Art Centre is not the main building on Bathurst but is the building north of it, on Lennox Street, east of Bathurst.
From the Doors Open, City of Toronto official site: “The Art Centre was designed by Macy DuBois and won the Vincent Massey Architectural Design Award for its unique and specialized functional design; it was built in 1962 and as such it is celebrating their 50th anniversary. It was the first exposed concrete building in Toronto and was an international success for DuBois and launched his career. Central Technical School has been a leader in art education excellence since it opened, and The Art Centre was built on the north campus grounds in 1962 to support the ever growing demand for specialized art education. Today The Art Centre is the home of the well-respected Specialized Visual Arts Program for both high school students and the Three Year Adult Art Program for adults. The learning experience is renowned because of the state of the art facility with specifically designed studios featuring a foundry, pottery wheels, printing presses, wet darkrooms, digital photo labs, model stands, northern exposure lighting and art display areas. Learning is further enhanced because all courses are taught by professional artist-teachers.”
A poster is coming up shortly but please mark your calendars now. It will be great to see you.
